Our commitments

Sustainability at Cancun Eats

Good Mexican food starts with good ingredients and a kitchen that wastes as little as possible. Here's how we try to do our bit in Blenheim.

  • Marlborough first

We buy produce, meat and seafood locally wherever the season allows. Shorter supply lines mean fresher food on the plate and fewer kilometres behind it.

  • Cooked from scratch

Salsas, guacamole, marinades and slow-braised birria are all made in our kitchen from whole ingredients — less packaging in, less processing, better flavour out.

  • Using the whole ingredient

Trim and offcuts go into stocks, broths and staff meals, and we prep to order so we're not throwing good food away at close.

  • Thoughtful takeaway packaging

Our takeaway containers are chosen to be recyclable where Marlborough kerbside collection allows, and we skip anything single-use we don't genuinely need.

  • Careful with energy and water

Equipment is only fired up when service needs it, and the team follows simple close-down routines so nothing runs overnight for no reason.

  • Looking after our people

A sustainable restaurant is also a fair one — steady hours, a supportive kitchen and training for our team.

We're always improving — if you have a supplier, packaging idea or question, we'd genuinely like to hear it. Get in touch or read our story.
